Back to school! Chmura wants to send its thanks and support to every educator working too many hours to ensure our children have a safe, healthy, and inspiring start to their school year.

Even though schools are busier than ever this time of year, they never stop planning for the future. One of the biggest current challenges for Career and Technical Education (CTE) is the implementation of the Strengthening Career and Technical Education Act, also known as Perkins V. Perkins V requires that every school district/division conduct a comprehensive local needs assessment (CLNA) of its CTE programs at least every two years.

What is required to be in the CLNA? The Association for Career and Technical Education identifies six criteria that include “alignment to labor market needs.” Schools must provide greater documentation than ever on how their CTE offerings align to immediate and long-term labor market projections and state definitions for “in-demand industry sectors or occupations” and “high-wage” and “high-skill” occupations.

Chmura is ready to help all schools meet their Perkins V requirements. We house the most complete labor data sets in the country with a level of accuracy that no one can match. Chmura synthesizes data from a far-flung set of government sources, identifies occupations that traditional labor data omits, and puts it all into an easy to use package that includes reporting and mapping capabilities. JobsEQ downloads job postings daily from over 30,000 sources to help educators see which employers are hiring in their region and which certifications and skills students need to get those jobs. With JobsEQ, educators can show students jobs that match their interests and skills. It also provides all the evidence educators need to document that their CTE programs meet current labor needs and the standard for high-wage, high-skill employment.

To align with long-term economic needs, Chmura has a team of economists and data scientists that work tirelessly to provide one-, five-, and ten-year economic projections. JobsEQ presents this information for each career and industry in every region of the country, down to the zip code level, so you can prepare your students for the labor market they will encounter when they finish their education.

Perkins V is a new challenge for CTE, but Chmura and JobsEQ have all the tools and support staff to help schools handle federal reporting and align their programs with the job demands of tomorrow.
